The internet is awash with porn. And you can get it for free. I read recently (on CNN) about Lady Gaga and how you could buy her latest album for 99 cents but there were serious problems with Amazon web servers and many people were unable to download it after paying for it. One of the many comments sort of summed things up. You mean to say that people still pay for music.
Whilst I'm sure that Lady Gaga will not go bankrupt because you listen to her music for free, its a very different story for the websites that we feature here. Most are small operations and they rely on their members to fund their productions.
Over the past few years many of these small websites and studios have gone out of business simply because of the flood of free porn available on the net. I don't know where it's going to end, but someone has to produce it and they are not going to do it if it doesn't feed the cat.
Torrents such as gay-torrents, gay-pirates, fileshare servers such as rapidshare, hotfiles, filesonic are distribution points for free porn. I recently took a look on one of the torrent servers and noted that the complete set of videos from Mike18 was available and according to their figures, it had already been downloaded a staggering 4 million times. I have no idea how many members Mike18 has, but Im sure it can't be measured in thousands let alone millions.
How many good, or great sites have we seen disappear over the years. What were once successful operations shut shop and we are deprived of seeing their work. TheNetGP, BoysBox, BoysClub18, OriginalBoys, Jacubsworld, to name but a few. At one point, OriginalBoys was producing 4-8 new photosets and videos each and everyday. Now, they produce one DVD once in a blue moon.
Stop the rot
There's no stopping the rot. Free porn, getting better and better in quality all ripped off and illegal, is everywhere. I see every now and again some uproar by some disgruntle studio who issues threats of legal action, but compared to the number of downloads, the number of people punished is negligible.
We will continue to see a decline in in the number of new sites starting up, and we will continue to see sites that were once successful, close down.
You don't have to be a genius to find free quality porn, no longer do you have to hunt it down through private message boards or ICQ or newsgroups. Now it's all mainstream, point and click, download your torrent software, and off you go. Oodles of free porn. The risk of getting caught is low, and you feel reassured because everyone else does it.
I so used to enjoy finding new sites, and reporting about them on BoyReview, but now its a rare pleasure. Yeah, for sure, there are plenty of new sites but all older guys. Extremely rare to find something as delicious as teen-boys-world or EnigmaticBoys.
